
U.S. Department of Justice recently announced a new NIJ funding opportunity for research in forensics (New Solicitation: Research and Development in Forensic Science for Criminal Justice Purposes, Fiscal Year 2019). The solicitation is specifically for research in forensics, which the Evofinder® Automated Ballistic Identification system might be able to assist with answering questions and improving forensic science. The Evofinder® is a scanning device which generates digital images of bullets and cartridge cases for examination, comparison, and automated searches within existing databases. Built with 4-motor mechanics, the Evofinder® provides high-quality recording of bullets, including heavily deformed ones, and incorporates a universal cassette to mount and orient both types of samples in a compact, light-weight, and portable scanning device.
