The LCF is a powerful firearms and toolmarks comparison microscope used to examine forensic evidence such as bullet casings, shotgun shells, and tools.  The LCF was built using apochromatically corrected optics, allowing for an optical system that has the highest correction level available on the market. The apochromatically corrected optics eliminates optical aberrations and provides clean, crisp and high-resolution images.

Above, Deion Christophe, Impression Evidence Training Coordinator at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Forensic Science Institute, explains how to use the Leeds LCF comparison microscope for ballistics investigations.  Deion is one of several instructors working with students in the forensic science program.  Forensic Science teaching programs, such as UCO’s, which allow their forensic science students access to work on such high quality equipment as the LCF will prepare them to be top notch examiners in their field upon graduation.
